PROPERTY-TRADING GAME UPLAND FIRST TO ENABLE BOTH FIAT AND CRYPTO PAYMENTS
SAN FRANCISCO – Wednesday, January 29, 2020 –Blockchain game developer Uplandme, Inc. today announced that players of its digital property trading game, Upland, can now use either fiat or cryptocurrency to purchase UPX, the in-game currency used to buy digital properties, making it the world’s first blockchain game to offer payment flexibility. Through the integration of GoCoin with the mobile web version of Upland, players can now buy UPX with their crypto holdings, paying with Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Dash, Litecoin, and EOS
Available via browser or as free, downloadable native apps, the Upland game platform is a virtual layer mapped to real-world addresses that offers players true ownership of digital property that they can buy, trade, and sell via an open marketplace.
“It’s always been our goal to create a game that appeals to both crypto enthusiasts and the mass market while highlighting the benefits of blockchain. Adding the security and flexibility of crypto payments is another step in that direction and something that our community has been requesting,” said Idan Zuckerman, co-founder of Upland. “The integration of GoCoin was seamless and we are thrilled to be working with such a leading digital currency pioneer to make this important feature a reality.”
Upland’s use of non-fungible tokens and a decentralized database enables true ownership of the game’s properties, enabling players to sell or trade their digital purchases. By employing intuitive play mechanics similar to the popular property-trading board games and familiar locations, Upland introduces the benefits of blockchain to the masses while providing an enticing gamified experience and real-world economy for non-gamers and blockchain enthusiasts alike.
“As a long-term player in digital currency payments, GoCoin shares Upland’s mission of bringing blockchain technology to the masses,” said Kevin Beauregard, COO of GoCoin. “We are excited to be integrated with an innovative platform like Upland.”
Launched as an open beta with properties in San Francisco earlier this year, future iterations of Upland will expand to include other cities and regions throughout the world, the possibility to erect structures on properties, and will enable developers to build on the platform.
