The Sandbox to feature Richie Hawtin and deadmau5 in hot new metaverse collaboration

Pixelynx has purchased LAND as it looks to expand the metaverse horizon

 

HONG KONG – May 27th, 2021The Sandbox, the decentralized gaming virtual world from Animoca Brands, is proud to announce today the latest partnership with two legendary electronic artists, Richie Hawtin aka Plastikman and deadmau5. The partnership has been brokered by Pixelynx, a new gaming venture launched by the two artists as a “portal into the metaverse” and to help a diverse range of artists and brands develop digital collectibles and virtual worlds.

Richie Hawtin and deadmau5 are renowned for pushing boundaries with new technology and have been experimenting with virtual worlds, non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and blockchain for the past two years. Pixelynx has acquired LAND in The Sandbox and will be launching gaming experiences and NFTs bringing its artists’ unique vision of music in the metaverse to The Sandbox.

 

The Sandbox is a unique virtual world where players can build, own, and monetize their gaming experiences using NFTs. These NFTs come in the form of SAND, ASSETs, and LAND. SAND is the currency used within The Sandbox which can be used to purchase ASSETs. ASSETs are tokens serving as creation elements in The Sandbox Game Maker and are used on LAND, the digital real estate in this metaverse. These components of The Sandbox work in concert to allow players create digital assets in the form of NFTs, upload them to the marketplace, and integrate them into games using the #nocode Game Maker.

The Sandbox has secured over 65 partnerships, including Avenged Sevenfold, The Smurfs, Care Bears, Atari, and CryptoKitties, to build a fun, creative “play-to-earn” platform that offers virtual worlds and game experiences owned and created by players. The play-to-earn model gives players true ownership of anything they collect in the game, allowing them to trade it to other players (including outside the game on other websites), transfer it to other players, or even resell it.

 

The Sandbox is scheduled to launch its first public Alpha for players later in 2021, enabling anyone to experience a social hub and gain the power to build a fantastic collection of fantasy and role-playing adventures that can be traded as NFTs with other players, creators, and artists on the platform.
